The Book of Secrets

Found nearly dead by the side of the King’s highway by a kindly mage named Methuseld, Finian is surrounded by mystery, with no memories of his birth or his parents, and with no last name.

We follow his struggles from the soaring towers of Karvalahall, the capital city of the realm of Nulor where he stumbles upon the beginnings of a mystery over a millennia in the making, to the mystical halls of the Paideia, an academy where Nulor’s mages are trained in the mystical arts.

At the Paideia, a place Finian had hoped would show him his true purpose as a mage, he is again shunted to the side, partly because of his race as part-elf, and partly because he shows absolutely no talent at the mystical arts. He must struggle against bitterness, a mysterious stalker, cursed swords, a violent sport akin to the medieval gauntlet, strange demonic dogs, and something even worse - an ancient evil rising from the dusts of history that may just reveal to him the identity of his parents - if only he can accept who he is.
